Jon Mayhugh

Jon Mayhugh is a partner practicing in the Real Estate and Business & Corporate Law group with the firm. Within the group, Jon’s practice focuses on commercial and residential Real Estate closings and title insurance, commercial lease drafting and negotiation, commercial lending and borrowing, corporate formation and organization, intellectual property licensing and protection (trademark, copyright, and trade secret), and the drafting and negotiation of corporate contracts across industries. Jon is licensed to practice in Florida and North Carolina.

A Florida native, Jon was born in Tampa, and raised in Cape Coral, Florida. He attended the University of Central Florida, graduating cum laude with a BSBA in finance. He then went to work at Morgan Stanley in New York, New York, for several years, departing as a senior associate in their mutual funds and alternative investments sales group. After leaving finance, and just prior to attending law school, Jon worked as a director of a hunger focused non-profit in Lee County, Florida. After graduating from law school, he began his legal career in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, focusing on corporate transactions for startups and small businesses, including entity formation, intellectual property protection, and capital raising (private placements). Following his wife to Baltimore, Maryland while she completed her post-doctoral fellowship, Jon began working in-house for Johns Hopkins University’s Technology Ventures group, the entrepreneurial arm of their technology transfer and licensing office.

Immediately prior to joining Battaglia, Ross, Dicus & McQuaid in 2025, Jon was a partner at Englander Fischer, a boutique business litigation firm in St. Petersburg, with a practice that included corporate transactions (mergers & acquisitions, equity and debt financing, stock sales, asset purchases, etc.), commercial real estate transactions and litigation, and general commercial litigation.
